Why do peoples leave garbage at the Movies?

When leaving a movie theater, peopel leave there garbage. Why can't they pick it up and throw it out while leaving. Do they assume that;s the job of the Ushers (It's not, they are there for other cleaning reasons), or are people so lazy and don't care. Would you leave your home after dinner that way. Please explain why people can't just pick up the garbage they bring in.

good question. well i think it's b/c they see everyone else doing it, they think it is the jobs of the ushers and because it's so dark, i think they're afraid to feel around on the floor for their trash b/c it's really gross down there.
They prefer to assume that part of the theater "service" is janatorial services -- even though they know deep down that they should pick up their own trash.

People are pigs.
because they are not at home and know that people come in and clean up after them before the next group of slobs come in.

Unfortunately people do not always act as we should. Not all of the time is it done for just being messy but thoughtlessness. Manners are not always observed by one and all. And then we just have the lazy ones.. then also the one that think it is there right to be messy. and will do know matter what.
They are just lazy and they thought that someone should clean up after them because they paid to get in.
Because their parents never taught them any better!
Every once in a while I imagine a wrapper will fall out of someone's bag without their knowledge, I imagine. However, leaving a huge tub of popcorn or something is pretty obvious. Maybe you're right that they think it's the ushers' job.
Because of their lack of good manners..Maybe they do the same at home too...who knows?
It happens because a lot of people are rude and lazy. It annoys me to no end when people at fast food restaurants leave their trash on tables as well. The damned trash can is right there. Use it!
And they wonder why the price of admission keeps going up...
no home training some people feel like other folks get paid to clean and some folks are just plain rude have you ever noticed that at the coffee houses Starbucks for instance they'll put their sugar and cream in and leave the garbage right there what the hell is that i know I'm gonna catch hell for this 99% of the people who do this is white i know i have done retail and customer service for over 10 yrs and you guys are THE most rudest of all 2nd place goes to the Indians not native but India's finest

I always throw my trash away. It's not that difficult to do.

Because people in general are raised with no manners, as slobs. They figure it is your job...so why should they pick up after themselves. It's not right, but that is the way of society...

I worked in a movie theater for several years when I was younger. Let me tell you it is total disrespect to leave garbage for someone else to pick up. You would not believe the messes people make! I understand spilling some popcorn or candy. That is understandable but for God's sake don't smear candy and pour soda on the backs of chairs. For all those out there who leave their garbage REMEMBER.... it's not only the ushers who clean the theaters between shows. The concession attendants also take part in this job. Do you really know if they washed their hands?????????????
For the same reason they don't return their shopping cart to the cart park, they think they have already pd too much for the groceries/entertainment. What they don't realize is that if everyone did their part, it would save business money, that they theoretically would pass on to consumers.
Laziness, assume cleaning cost included in price of ticket, etc...
Laziness and a basic disrespect for their fellow human being. Something that seems to be more common today. All we can do is not do this ourselves and encourage are family and friends to follow the same courtesy.

Good question. I think it depends on how people were raised. I was always raised to "leave a place better than you found it". This typically meant State Parks and such, but it has carried over to all aspects of my life. Imagine how much better ANYwhere would be, if 90% of people felt (and behaved) this way!
you said it in your question....... just imagine their homes... but honestly, at the movies, they know someone will clean up after them.
